Bathroom Renovation Cost in Brisbane (2026 Guide)

How Much Does a Bathroom Renovation Cost in Brisbane?

If you are planning a bathroom renovation in Brisbane, one of the first questions on your mind is “how much is this going to cost?” The answer depends on a range of factors — the size of your bathroom, the quality of finishes you choose, the complexity of the plumbing and electrical work, and whether any structural changes are required.

As a QBCC licensed builder (Licence No. 15558211) who has completed dozens of bathroom renovations across Brisbane South, Logan and the Gold Coast, here is a realistic breakdown of what to expect in 2026.

Bathroom Renovation Price Ranges

Budget Renovation ($15,000 – $25,000)

A budget bathroom renovation typically includes a basic strip-out, new waterproofing, standard wall and floor tiles, a new vanity, toilet, shower screen and tapware. You are working within the existing layout — no plumbing relocations, no structural changes. This suits a rental property upgrade or a straightforward refresh of an older bathroom.

Mid-Range Renovation ($25,000 – $45,000)

This is where most Brisbane homeowners land. A mid-range renovation includes full strip-out to the studs, new plumbing, certified waterproofing, full-height tiling with feature tiles, niche recesses, quality tapware and fixtures, LED lighting, exhaust fan, heated towel rail, frameless shower screen, and a quality vanity with stone top. You may move a fixture or two, but the overall layout stays similar.

Premium Renovation ($45,000 – $65,000+)

Premium renovations involve high-end finishes — large-format porcelain tiles, freestanding baths, wall-hung vanities, brushed nickel or matte black tapware, underfloor heating, custom niches, and often a complete layout change. This might include relocating the toilet, adding a double vanity, or converting a bathtub space into a walk-in shower. Structural work, additional plumbing runs and bespoke joinery push the cost higher.

What Drives the Cost?

  • Waterproofing — mandatory in Queensland for all wet areas. Certified waterproofing to AS 3740 typically costs $1,500 to $3,000 depending on size. You will receive a waterproofing certificate upon completion.
  • Tiles — the biggest variable. Supply can range from $30/m2 to $150/m2+. Full-height tiling uses more material and labour than half-height.
  • Plumbing — moving fixtures (toilet, shower, vanity) adds cost. A like-for-like replacement is cheaper than a full relocation.
  • Electrical — new lighting, exhaust fans, heated towel rails, and power points all need to be installed by a licensed electrician.
  • Fixtures and fittings — your choice of vanity, tapware, toilet, shower screen and accessories makes a big difference. Budget tapware might be $200, premium can be $800+.

What Are PC Allowances?

At Axena Projects, we use Prime Cost (PC) allowances for items the client selects — tiles, tapware, vanity, shower screen, toilet and accessories. The PC allowance is a budget figure included in your quote. If you spend less, you get a credit. If you spend more, you pay the difference. This gives you full control over the look and feel of your bathroom while keeping the build cost transparent.

What Is Included in an Axena Projects Quote?

Our quotes are fully itemised so you know exactly what you are paying for. A typical bathroom renovation quote includes:

  • Full demolition and strip-out
  • Plumbing rough-in and final fit-off
  • Certified waterproofing with certificate
  • Wall and floor tiling (including adhesive, grout, waterproof membrane)
  • Electrical — lighting, exhaust, power points, heated towel rail

  • Vanity, toilet, shower screen and mirror installation
  • Tapware fitting
  • Painting
  • Silicone, final clean and handover
